Waste Connections is seeking a reliable and experienced CDL A Driver to operate our Missoula route, hauling trash from our transfer station to the landfill in Missoula. This position involves operating a roll-off truck with one box on the truck and pulling a trailer with two additional boxes, totaling three boxes per trip to the landfill.
Starting Pay: $23.50/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, occasional Saturdays as needed
Start Time: Between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, depending on route availability
Key Responsibilities:
- Waste Collection and Transportation:
- Operate trash trucks to collect garbage, recycling, and yard waste on assigned routes.
- Ensure the safe and efficient loading of waste materials using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Transport collected waste to designated disposal facilities.
- Vehicle Operation and Maintenance:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring it is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the fleet maintenance team promptly.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while operating the vehicle and handling waste materials.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to waste management and transportation.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and provided.
- Customer Service:
- Interact courteously with customers and the public, addressing any questions or concerns professionally.
- Ensure waste collection services meet customer expectations and resolve issues promptly.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of daily routes, waste collected, and any incidents or issues encountered.
- Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
- Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Two years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local streets and routes.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and loading heavy items 50 lb +, with the ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb into the truck multiple times a day.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Steady working history.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
